BK Virus, quantitative real-time PCR, Urine

Intended Use

BK Virus Real-Time PCR Detection is in vitro nucleic acid amplification assay, based on real-time PCR technology, for the detection and quantification of BK virus (BKV) specific DNA.

Specimen Required

Urine

Patient Preparation
  • Sample Collection: Collect urine sample in a clean, nonmetal container without preservatives if the specimen is maintained refrigerated or on ice during collection and transport to the laboratory.
  • Specimen Preparation: Do not freeze. Transport the urine sample in containers or transport tubes within 24 hours of collection.
  • Storage/Transport Temperature: Refrigerated.
  • Unacceptable Conditions: Under- or over-filled tubes of Urine container.
  • Remarks: Proper aseptic technique and sample handling are critical to avoid contamination or degradation.
  • Stability: Ambient: 90 days; Refrigerated: 90 days; Frozen: Unacceptable.
Methodology

This test utilizes real-time PCR to detect and quantify BK virus (BKV) specific DNA in urine sample.
