CMV quantitative real-time PCR, Plasma

Intended Use

CMV quantitative real-time PCR is an invitro nucleic acid amplification assay for the detection and quantitation of Cytomegalovirus (CMV) specific DNA.

Specimen Required

2 Tubes / EDTA Blood / 2 mL per tube or 2 ml Plasma. (Min: 1 mL)

Patient Preparation
  • Sample collection: Collect in lavender (EDTA). Collection of blood before dialysis is preferred.
  • Specimen preparation: Do not freeze. Transport 4 mL whole blood in EDTA tube or 2 mL plasma. (Min: 1 mL)
  • Storage/Transport Temperature: Refrigerated
  • Unacceptable Conditions: Heparinized specimens
  • Remarks: Proper aseptic technique and sample handling are critical to avoid contamination or degradation. Specimen source required.
  • Stability: Ambient: 8 hours; Refrigerated: 72 hours; Frozen: 3 months
Methodology

This test uses a real-time PCR for the detection and quantification of Cytomegalovirus (CMV) specific DNA by amplifying a conserved region of the CMV genome.
